July 25, 2008 20:59 by ryan

I wouldnt be suprsied if this guy didnt catch a beating, he would have deserved it.

"An upstate man whose license had been suspended 22 times was arrested on speeding charges after he zipped past the procession for a Long Island firefighter who drowned while trying to save his son, Suffolk police said.

When stopped Thursday at Exit 51 on the Long Island Expressway, police said, Timothy O'Connor, 31, claimed the procession was for his friend's grandfather.

O'Connor, of Walton in Delaware County, told Highway Patrol Officer Robert Diamond he didn't know the grandfather's name, but that the man had been in his 80s.

Police said that when Diamond told O'Connor the procession was for firefighter Martin Simmons, 41, of Nesconset, O'Connor admitted he lied because he was driving with a suspended license."
